What is a Furnace or Air Conditioning Probe?

Whether it's a furnace, air conditioner or packaged unit, a probe’s function in an HVAC system is to measure temperatures within the air conditioner and in the space outside of the unit (i.e. the room that it’s in). This information gathered by the probe or sensor is then utilized throughout the system to help maintain regular operation and optimal temperatures.

What is a Temperature Sensor in an HVAC System?

An HVAC system relies on temperature sensors to maintain the desired atmosphere within a space. These sensors assess the temperature of the air and water, making necessary adjustments to the system's operation to adhere to specific setpoints, thereby achieving the perfect balance of temperature.

Why is My Thermostat Temperature Sensor Not Working?

If your HVAC system isn't adhering to the desired temperature, a dirty temperature sensor might be the culprit. This issue is prevalent among many HVAC components. Inspect the sensor for any dust accumulation and delicately brush it off with a soft-bristle brush to improve its accuracy and performance.
