From ignition failures to burner flame adjustments, knowing how to troubleshoot your equipment keeps your cooking line efficient and safe. In this guide, we’ll cover Garland range troubleshooting tips to help you identify problems early, fix minor issues, and know when it’s time to call in a factory authorized service technician.

This guide is applicable for Garland Master Series range models like the M43-1RM45RM42R and more.   

Burner Flame is Too Large

  • Incorrect pressure or injector setting—Have the pressure or injector setting checked by a factory authorized service technician.

Burner Flame Has a Soft Yellow Tip

  • Not enough air—Check settings for aeration shutter.

Flame Lifting Off Burner Ports

  • Not enough air—Check settings for aeration shutter.

Flame Light Back to Injector

  • Not enough air—Check settings for aeration shutter.

Burner Pops When It’s Turned Off

  • Not enough air—Check settings for aeration shutter.

Ignition is Delayed

  • Pilot flame is too small—Check the pilot flame’s length and adjust as needed.
  • Burner ports are blocked—Clean the burner ports.
  • Incorrect aeration—Have checked by a certified service technician.
  • Incorrect pressure setting—Have the pressure setting checked by a factory authorized service technician.

Pilot Burner Won’t Light

  • Pilot orifice is clogged—Clean the pilot orifice.
  • Pilot adjusting screw is closed—Open the pilot screw and adjust the flame length.

No Spark to Pilot(s)

  • Loose or disconnected hi-tension wires—Have wires reconnected by a factory authorized service technician.
  • Spark module is defective—Have module replaced by a factory authorized service technician.
  • Momentary switch is defective—Have switch replaced by a factory authorized service technician.
  • Unit doesn’t have power—Check the power supply and restore it to the unit.

Pilot Keeps Going Out

  • Pilot flame is too small—Check the pilot flame’s length and adjust as needed.
  • Connection to thermocouple is loose—Have it checked by a factory authorized service technician.
  • Thermocouple is faulty or damaged—Have replaced by a factory authorized service technician.
  • Flame safety device is faulty or damaged—Have replaced by a factory authorized service technician.
